Questions about your data
Your privacy matters in therapy more than almost anywhere else. This page explains what information I collect through this website and in sessions, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.
Who I am
I’m Dr. Elise Marlow, a clinical psychologist in private practice in Marylebone, London. For the purposes of UK data protection law I am the data controller for your information. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZA000000.
What I collect
When you use the booking form: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the kind of session you’re interested in, your preferred times, and anything you choose to write in the message.
If we work together: your contact details, your GP’s details if you agree to share them, brief session notes, and invoices. Session notes are written on paper and kept in a locked cabinet; nothing clinical is stored on this website.
Why I use it
To reply to your request, arrange and provide therapy, keep the clinical records my professional body requires, and take payment. I use information about your health because it is necessary to provide care (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(h)), and your other details because we have, or are about to have, an agreement for therapy.
Who I share it with
No one, with three exceptions: your GP, only if you agree; my clinical supervisor, who hears about our work without your name or identifying details; and anyone I am legally required to tell, or if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk. In that case I would always try to talk to you first.
How long I keep it
Booking requests that don’t lead to therapy are deleted after six months. Clinical records are kept for seven years after our last session, in line with professional guidance, and then securely destroyed.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted where the law allows. Email me and I’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
This website
This site uses cookie-free analytics to count visits. It doesn’t use advertising cookies or track you across other sites. Form messages are delivered to my email and not used for anything else.
